I liked this shop, and I thought they were good, but today I discovered something that changes that.
About 6 months ago I had the oil in my Subaru Outback changed here. They did a fine job, at a reasonable rate. I brought my own oil and filter. I normally change my oil myself, and this was the first time I had it done at a shop. Fast-forward to today, I was changing my oil. These guys tightened the drain plug so far beyond the correct tightness that I had to kick the breaker bar with my foot while bracing myself against the ground! (For those who don't know, you are only supposed to tighten a drain plug a little bit beyond the point when the washer crushes.) They must have tightened that thing with a air ratchet, it was so tight! When I finally got it off, I was just thankful that the threads were not ripped out of the oil pan.
This was a beginner mistake on their part. Not a huge problem in the end, this time. But such an easily avoidable mistake is not something that I can overlook! A SHOP THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY CHANGE OIL IS NOT A SHOP THAT I CAN GO TO.
