I frequently stop here while driving between Seattle and Spokane. There is a desert hike that is relatively easy with some decent views of rage Columbia river. It can be extremely hot, and there can be rattlesnakes (I've never run into any). All in all this is a pleasant place to stop and stretch, and take in some of Washington's geological wonder.
