We were generally happy during our 3 year stay (not withstanding a rat infestation and inexplicable add ons to utility bills) and the rent increases were commensurate with property price growth for the country. However at move out the office charged us over $400 for "prorated carpet replacement". Even though the move out inspector agreed that the carpet was in pristine condition, the office declared that the carpet had a 7 year lifespan and that they were charging for my share of the carpet depreciation. I guess they were gracious to not charge me for my share of the 40 year IRS determined life span of the roof, walls, and foundation...Upon my informing them of a breach of contract they immediately referred the carpet charge to a debt collection agency, before the due date, without replying to my appeal.
